There are many amazing aspects to being a Functional Medicine Health Coach, but when we asked our students and alumni to share their favorite thing about coaching, more than 9 out of 10 agreed:
Working with clients is the best part of being a coach because it is so incredibly rewarding.

Coaches give a priceless gift to their clients: the power to find healing, to believe in themselves and their ability to thrive, and the strategies and tools to achieve their health goals, their way.
And we believe it all starts with recognizing and using character strengths.
Positive psychology teaches that we’re at our best when we know our strengths, and we use them to the fullest. It’s an essential part of our program. As a student, you’ll practice helping clients recognize and put their character strengths to work with everything from emotional well-being to inflammation to communication. Character strengths are a critical element in your coach’s toolkit!
When you complete FMCA’s Health Coach Certification Program, you earn the designation “FMCHC.” All FMCA graduates earn those letters after their name, for Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. And some go on to add another set of letters—“NBC-HWC,” for National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach.
NBC-HWC is the new gold standard in coaching credentials, and clients and practitioners are taking notice. The International Consortium for Health & Wellness Coaching (ICHWC) oversees the board certification exam, and Functional Medicine Coaching Academy is proud to be an ICHWC-approved program, meaning FMCA graduates are eligible to apply to sit for the ICHWC exam.
Ready to become an FMCHC? Thinking about going on to earn your NBC-HWC? Either way, you’ll get the education and experience you need to succeed at FMCA.
Our next class starts on March 1. Apply now and receive three gifts valued at $1400. Start your application here.
