How Do Challenges Shape Us?
Our keynote speaker, Jim Kwik, CEO of Kwik Learning, FMCA educator, and best-selling author, spoke on this topic in depth! We were able to bring together Functional Medicine Certified Health Coaches with global industry experience in our alumni panel, moderated by Monique Class, FMCA’s beloved Senior Content Developer & Lead Faculty. Panelists Dr. Kristi Hughes, Leora Mofsowitz, and Mohamed Mostafa discussed the power of health coaching and how their Functional Medicine health coaching training has shaped their careers around the globe.
Monique Class MS, APRN, BC, is a founding member and Senior Content Developer & Lead Faculty for The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, senior faculty member for the Institute for Functional Medicine, a clinical instructor for Yale Graduate School of Nursing, and a senior faculty member for The Center for Mind/Body Medicine. Monique is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Holistic Health at The Center for Functional Medicine in Stamford, CT. Monique holds certifications in Imagery and Meditation from The Psychosynthesis Institute, Mind-Body Medicine from The Center for Mind Body Medicine, Yoga from Yoga Alliance, and dual board certifications in coaching from the AHNCC and NBHWC.

Kristi Hughes, ND, IFMCP, FMCHC has dedicated her professional path to the study and practice of root-cause medicine. After graduating from the National College of Natural Medicine, she launched her private practice in 1997 in Alexandria, MN. She attended her first training with the Institute for Functional Medicine in 1999, becoming certified in 2015. Dr. Hughes’ private practice, DocereVita, offers personalized Naturopathic and Functional Medicine health care consultations, telemedicine, and lifestyle coaching services. Dr. Hughes served as a Director of Medical Education at IFM for a decade, where she was responsible for the development of medical education clinical tools and patient education resources, supported the collaboration partners, cultivated the practice implementation assets, and participated as an educator and facilitator both domestically and internationally. As a foundational developer, original Advisory Board Member, and 2021 FMCA graduate, Dr. Hughes remains engaged in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy to this day.

Leora Mofsowitz is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC), with a personal growth mindset who helps high achievers, entrepreneurs and leaders to live life with wellbeing and vitality. Leora is a skilled group facilitator and brings leaders in the wellbeing world together to deliver a shared appointment model with transformational results. Leora built a successful career over 14 years as a professional working for a global nutraceutical brand. It is over this time that she honed her skills in Functional Medicine, practitioner business development, value based sales, training and public speaking. Leora is on a mission to inspire people, to disrupt the fear based medical model, and grow the Functional Medicine Movement.
