With the current events occurring today, Health Coaches are needed more now than ever. We’ve trained and prepared our Functional Medicine Health Coaches for times like these, to be the calm in the chaos by using the foundations of Positive Psychology and Functional Medicine. So how can coaches be able to play a crucial role in supporting people who are struggling with fear, anxiety, and stress?
Know The Coach Role
The first important step to understand your role as the coach. The role of coaches is not to recommend anything as far as medical advice, prevention, or treatment, but it is to focus on how as coaches, you can provide a sense of support and community.
Create a Community
The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy has been an online program since Day 1, so it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about building an online community. We use various tools to train our coaches to work online, such as Zoom Video Conference. Through video conferencing, you have the opportunity to bring together people who are quarantined or isolated and to build a community to support them through coaching in the space of positivity, focusing on what is going well in their lives. Maybe it’s your family, friends, or people on Social Media needing support! You can make a difference in their lives.
Educate + Listen
People are being overwhelmed and inundated with information from the news, doctors, and government officials. People are now using this information as an opportunity to educate and take a step further in their health care by reducing sugar, eating more vegetables, getting enough sleep, adding exercise or reducing the amount of stress in their life – here is where you, the health coach, are able to meet that person where they’re at and support them. You should create a safe space to hear that person and help guide them through their concerns, fears, and questions. Sometimes, the best way to give back is to just listen and support.
