The average person spends about 25-30 years of their life at work. We’re always on the go, running in and out of meetings, snacking on processed sugary snacks and drinks provided, and sitting for long hours at their desk trying to meet deadlines – feeling under pressure, stressed out, and overwhelmed.
While many workplaces are starting to realize they are inadvertently incentivizing unhealthy habits and want to encourage healthy behaviors, most employers don’t know where to begin.
This is a situation for a Corporate Wellness Coach to come in!
What is a Corporate Wellness Coach?
A Corporate Wellness Coach is a Health Coach brought into the workplace environment to help employees improve and maintain their health and wellness goals. Unlike a nutritionist or athletic coach, who would assign a specific eating and exercise plan, a wellness coach focuses on advising and helping a client make better choices based on the client’s lifestyle. This not only decreases health care costs and reduces absences, but it also contributes positively to performance, productivity, and employee engagement.
Many workplaces are beginning to add Corporate Wellness Programs that are tailored to the individual needs and resources of the company. Typically these programs include a range of activities such as health education, health monitoring, smoking cessation initiatives, and incentives for physical fitness, emotional well-being, family care, and financial well-being.
