FMCA faculty member, Tom O’Bryan, MD, released “Betrayal: The Autoimmune Disease Solution They’re Not Telling You About,” a seven-part documentary series that goes behind the scenes of the autoimmune industry with interviews from over 85 doctors, Functional Medicine practitioners, professors, scientists, health advocates and patients in remission. FMCA faculty members featured in the videos include David Perlmutter, MD, Jeffrey Bland, PhD, Mark Hyman, MD, James Maskell, Deanna Minich, PhD, Terry Wahls, MD, Mark Menolascino, MD.

While Alessio Fassano, MD, didn’t invent celiac disease, his research certainly put it on the map. His visionary work, which established the rate of celiac disease at one in 133 people, led to the awareness of the disease as a growing public health problem in the United States. Join him for a free live stream lecture on Dec. 13, presented by the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine and The Institute for Functional Medicine.
The Linus Pauling Award-winning physician and researcher will present “How Early Nutrition Influences Gut Microbiome and Metabolic Profiles in Health and Disease: Shifting From a Disease-Centered Approach to Patient-Oriented Functional Medicine.” Fasano will talk about the latest research on biomarkers of gut function, the latest microbiome and metabolome research and discuss current and historical factors that play important roles in gut health. Sometimes sequels do live up to the original. FMCA faculty member Mark Hyman, MD, released “The Fat Summit 2: Separating Even More Fat From Fiction,” a collection of more than 30 audio and video presentations with Hyman and leading experts, including Chris Kresser, who mentions FMCA during his segment. The content focuses on how eating more of the right kind of fat can help shut down cravings, accelerate weight loss and potentially prevent disease. Learn more about it here.
FMCA founder Sandra Scheinbaum, along with FMCA faculty members Tom O’Bryan and Pedram Shojai will be featured in next week’s virtual conference: The Better Belly Project: Crushing the Critters, Plugging the Leaks, & Balancing the Biome for your Best Body Ever. Organized by holistic health coach, herbalist and fermentationist Summer Bock, the event includes wisdom from 31 experts in gut health and wellness, each sharing expertise that has collectively impacted tens of thousands of lives.
