The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy is thrilled to announce our new Specialty Course, Reversing Cognitive Decline for Coaches!
But what exactly is cognitive decline? And why do coaches need to know about it?
Cognitive decline refers to a lapse in cognitive functions—the way we think, reason, and remember. Some degree of cognitive decline is a natural part of the aging process, but those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease (AD), dementia, and other devastating conditions may experience a profound, debilitating decline in their cognitive functions.
While incidence of these conditions continues to rise—Alzheimer’s alone is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States—few treatments are available. And with cognitive decline’s ability to impact not just the lives of suffers but of loved ones and caregivers as well, coaches who know how to work with this population have never been more in demand.
Together, The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and Dr. Dale Bredesen have developed Reversing Cognitive Decline for Coaches (RCD), an online Specialty Course that trains Health Coaches in the Bredesen Protocol for Reversing Cognitive Decline.
Dr. Dale Bredesen, an internationally-recognized expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, developed the Bredesen Protocol to address the causes of cognitive decline in a comprehensive and personalized way that leads to improved outcomes This first-of-its-kind course presents the Bredesen Protocol through the Functional Medicine Health Coaching lens: you’ll get an overview of cognitive decline, learn what a health coach can do to best support practitioners who are using the Bredesen Protocol, and develop skills and knowledge to coach cognitive decline clients and their caregivers.
