The world needs health coaches. So do these companies.
People are waking up to the need for a holistic and cost-effective solution to our broken healthcare system. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say that 90% of the nation’s $4.1 trillion spent on healthcare annually goes toward managing chronic illnesses, many of which are caused or exacerbated by modifiable lifestyle factors. The tide is finally turning toward health coaching as a patient-centered, effective, and efficient solution to these problems.
As of November 2023, health coaching is a $16 billion market across multiple industries. This expansion means an ever-increasing variety of career options for certified health coaches. Major corporations hire health coaches to work in corporate offices to improve employee health. Health coaches bring their expertise in behavior change to health and wellness applications (apps). Even retail locations, like pharmacies and grocery stores, are looking to health coaches to help expand their health and wellness offerings to customers. Learn about more career opportunities for health coaches here.
According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, which updates its industry data every five years, 126,700 health education specialists and community health workers (health coaches) were employed nationwide in 2021. Employment in this industry is projected to increase by 12% in the next 10 years, adding an estimated 15,200 new health coaching jobs by 2031.
