Health coaching as a career is trending globally. Many people find hope and direction to fuel their goals through a health and wellness coach’s guidance, and we are proud to say The Functional Medicine Coach Academy (FMCA) alumni are helping people do that around the world!
So you live in Australia and New Zealand and are interested in becoming a health coach, but are not sure what the industry is like?
In a recent webcast, FMCA Director of Admissions, Jen, and International Relations Coordinator, Mahnaz explored what our alumni from Australia and New Zealand are doing with their Functional Medicine education! In this webcast we interview Functional Medicine Certified Health Coaches (FMCHC) Mel Wigan, Jenny Rowe, Shelley Philipps, and Linda Milner-Funnell, co-founder of Health Coaches Association of Australia and New Zealand (HCANZA).
Linda Milner-Funnell, FMCHC
Sydney, NSW, Australia | February 2017
Linda is a co-founder of the Health Coaches Association of Australia and New Zealand (HCANZA). She works as a consulting Nutritionist, Health Coach, and Clinical Hypnotherapist in a medical practice. Linda currently holds a Non-Executive Director board position with the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (AIMA) and is a member of the Australasian College of Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) and Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS). Linda was in the February 2017 class of FMCA.
Mel Wigan, FMCHC
Wombarra, NSW, Australia | February 2017
Mel Wigan is a healthy eating and clean living mum to 3 kids and a small menagerie of animals. Initially, her journey into the health sphere was one of necessity – She desperately wanted to resolve the health challenges experienced by her children. Mel was in our February 2017 class. She is now a Functional Medicine Health Coach, GAPS practitioner, and the founder of Well Belly Health.
Jenny Rowe, FMCHC
Wingham, NSW, Australia | September 2018
Jenny Rowe has over 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. She is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and a Certified Practitioner in Lifestyle Medicine and holds a Fellowship with ASLM (The Australian Society Lifestyle Medicine). Jenny was in our September 2018 class.
Shelley Philipps, FMCHC
Erowal Bay, NSW, Australia | February 2017
Shelley Philipps was in FMCA’s February 2017 class. She is passionate about working with women just like her to help them handle stress in their busy lives. From her own journey, living as an expat for many years, Shelley knows personally how the havoc of chronic, low-grade stress can sneak in. Regularly pushing her body into ultra-marathon overload, she has also witnessed the crashing side effects of acute stress. After coaching many clients one-on-one, Shelley knows it’s by meeting, greeting and working to tame our stressors that we can create the ability to thrive, not just get by.
