Introducing the FMCA Podcast Industry Leaders
Caring for All the Healthcare Stakeholders: Patients and Staff | Monday, June 20, 2022
Jabe founded Melbourne Functional Medicine after seeing gaps in current healthcare approaches that often led to poor health outcomes. Recognising that healthcare could be done better, he created our collaborative model of care that united patients with functional medicine practitioners and health coaches to provide a deeply transformative healthcare experience.
Since its inception in 2017, Jabe's focus has been on validating this approach, with great success. Now, with a well established clinical team practicing this model with hundreds of patients, Jabe has shifted his focus to leading the clinical team to deliver the best healthcare experience for all patients, as well as overall excellence and growth within the business. He is also a sought after speaker in the functional medicine space.
With a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, and ongoing training through The Institute for Functional Medicine, Jabe stays at the forefront of the most recent health research. When he isn’t nerding out over health research or focusing on business excellence and growth, Jabe is probably annoying his children, reading some trashy fantasy novel, or playing board games.

How Health Coaches within Collaborative Care Teams are Critical | Wednesday, June 22, 2022
Laurie Hofmann, MPH, has devoted more than 20 years of her life to the advancement of IFM and Functional Medicine. She was a founding member of IFM’s Board of Directors, then served as Vice-Chair, was subsequently IFM’s Executive Director, then served as CEO, and finally as Board Chair. Laurie skillfully managed the rapid growth of the organization with incredible commitment, laser focus, and sustained compassion. The evolution and expansion of the functional medicine ecosystem and IFM are a direct result of Laurie’s leadership, vision, and perseverance.

She helped conceptualize and implement the IFM Certification Program and was also instrumental in seeding the development of program offerings internationally in England, South Africa, Latin America, China, and Brazil. Another impactful legacy is the development, collaboration, and creation of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, a first-of-its-kind, patient-centered clinic.
