Health Coaching in the Longevity Era, With Andrea Corleto
As lab testing, peptides, hormone therapies, and other health optimization tools become more accessible, where do health coaches fit into this evolving wellness landscape? This week on Health Coach Talk, Dr. Sandi welcomes Andrea Corleto, founder and CEO of Altro Health, to explore the growing demand for longevity services, the importance of staying within scope of practice, and new models for bringing coaching and clinical care together.
“Clients are coming to health coaches and saying, I’m interested in this. And so, I get it. There’s demand. You want to grow your business. It’s just about doing it the right way with clinician supervision and sourcing from licensed pharmacies.”
Andrea Corleto
Andrea’s perspective comes from firsthand experience building and running a virtual longevity clinic focused primarily on women. After seeing how complicated it could be to coordinate lab testing, clinical teams, prescriptions, technology, and coaching support, she founded Altro Health to help wellness businesses connect clients with clinician-supervised services. In her conversation with Dr. Sandi, Andrea discusses why more people are seeking care beyond traditional healthcare settings, what clients are looking for when they pursue health optimization, and why lifestyle foundations like nutrition, movement, sleep, and behavior change remain central even as newer therapies become more widely available.
For health coaches, this rapidly changing landscape creates both opportunity and a need for clear professional boundaries. Andrea and Dr. Sandi discuss the distinction between helping clients access resources and stepping into activities such as ordering or interpreting labs, prescribing treatments, or recommending medications. They also explore the valuable role coaches can play alongside clinicians by helping clients translate health information into sustainable action, strengthening communication across the care team, and supporting the daily behaviors that influence long-term health. As wellness and healthcare continue to overlap in new ways, collaboration may become one of the most important skills for coaches building both trusted client relationships and sustainable careers.

Dr. Sandi: On today’s episode of “Health Coach Talk,” I talk to a true entrepreneur. She ran a very successful longevity clinic, and now, she is founding a new company that is providing a platform for people who are in the wellness business to access the kinds of tools and systems that are critical for the success of their clients. So, let me tell you a little bit about my guest.
Her name is Andrea Corleto, and she’s the founder and CEO of Altro Health. This is a platform powering the next generation of wellness businesses. It’s going to include lab testing, prescriptions, peptides, and other tools that you may need to scale. So, without further ado, here’s my interview with Andrea.
She is an amazing entrepreneur. She has a fascinating background, and I thought she was somebody that we should interview, and that her this would resonate with our audience. So, you were in the longevity business. You ran a longevity clinic. So, talk about that. What was that experience like? What was involved in the process of running that clinic? What were some of the lessons learned?
Andrea: First of all, thank you so much for having me, Sandi. I’m really excited to chat with you. So, my background is all entrepreneurship, tech, and health tech. So, before this, I ran a virtual longevity clinic, and that really started out of a personal need for health optimization, for wanting to feel my absolute best and feeling like…the traditional health system is built for sick care, and you go there when you’re sick, and that’s the scope of it. But, really, what about when you want to feel 10 out of 10, do your labs, optimize things. And in my case, having a chronic condition, I felt, well, if I can’t cure it, I’m going to try to feel my best. And so, really got into health optimization, longevity, whatever you want to call it, and built this longevity clinic out of a need.
So, we focus primarily on women. We did lab testing, hormone therapy, nutrition coaching, and it really shaped what is now another business because we went through that whole journey that many business owners are going through of trying to offer these services like coaching or labs or hormone therapy or peptides, and just seeing how complex it is. But really enjoyed running the virtual longevity clinic and serving a ton of people, especially women, and helping them understand their bodies and how they may be able to feel their best.
Dr. Sandi: Does anything come to mind, any kind of stand out when people are seeking longevity clinics, they’re seeking healthcare, as you said, as opposed to sick care? So, when did people who come to the center? What stood out as a different experience than what they might get if they just go to their primary care doctor?
Andrea: I think a lot of times when people go to a longevity clinic or seek even like health coaching, what they’re looking for is to go beyond normal. Oftentimes, we are told, your labs look normal. But are they optimal? Could I feel better? A lot of what we would see was actually women in their 40s, 50s being told it’s normal that you can’t sleep. It’s just age. And I just thought that we can’t…just because it’s common, doesn’t mean it should be the norm. So, if someone is struggling to sleep because of menopause, for example, okay, let’s get them the right treatment. So, that’s a lot of what we see that perhaps in a seven-minute PCP appointment they can’t get. And it’s not the PCP’s fault. It’s just simply you can only do so much in that time frame.
And so, people are going out of the traditional health system to seek these health optimization solutions, to really understand their bodies, to optimize, to experiment a little bit and see what helps them feel their best and have more energy. And I think that’s incredible. And it’s something that this industry is really growing because of that industry, that interest.
Dr. Sandi: Oh, absolutely. So, I go to A4M, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine every year. And it was always big, but now, it was the longest. It is like 20,000 attendees. It’s probably bigger than the other events. That’s what this is starting to feel like. And every year they get more and more people coming from the conventional world who wanting to open up longevity practices, introduce them into their current practices. So, you said your…what you did formally, this was online. Tell us what you’re doing currently. How did this come about, and what’s your mission? And tell us what this looks like.
Andrea: Yeah, totally. So, that experience of running a virtual longevity clinic really showed me that it is so hard as an existing business to get the clinical team, the lab partnership, build the storefront and the online presence, get the certification, figure out payment processing. It was a ton of work. And at the same time, I was seeing how many people have already a trusted wellness provider, whether that is their health coach, their nutritionist, maybe a trainer. And all of these practitioners don’t have the ability to expand into lab testing or prescribing because they’re not clinicians themselves. And so, it results in this fragmented experience, but yet it is so hard to build something that has everything in one.
So, that prompted me to build Altro Health, which is a platform that helps wellness businesses, like coaches, offer clinical services supervised by a clinical team. So, you can be a health coach, you have your clients, you’re helping them with nutrition, with exercise, with lifestyle. And then through a clinical team, you can also support them in getting lab testing and perhaps seeing whether hormone therapy or a GLP-1 or a peptide may be helpful to them. And so, then the experience is all under one trusted source that people already go to with supervision from a clinical team as well.
And so, really learned a lot from that original experience in a way where we were the customer first. And now, we built what we wish existed for us. And it’s been going really well. We worked with hundreds of wellness businesses throughout the U.S. to help them expand their business and offer more to their clients with this. So, it’s a better, less fragmented experience.
Dr. Sandi: So, say I go to somebody who is running their own wellness business and I…am I, as the consumer, ordering those labs or is that, let’s say, a health coach going to be the one who is ordering this for their client?
Andrea: Yeah. That’s a great question. So, as the end consumer, the patient or the client, you would have access to a lot of lab panels, products across hormone therapy, GLPs, peptides that can help you optimize your health. And so, the flow really depends on how the business that you’re working with operates. A lot of times, the health coach may provide education and access to these services. And if many coaches, for example, want their clients to have a baseline understanding of their labs, they may point you to comprehensive lab panel so that you can have a better understanding of your labs as a whole. But at the end of the day, the ordering of the lab, the prescriptions, all of that is done by a clinician within the platform.
So, the idea is that, as the end consumer, you have a clinician-supervised program with hormone therapy or GLPs, depending on what you may need, with labs and with the support from your coach on nutrition or exercise. As the end consumer, it’s a much more unified experience. You have guidance from people with the right scope of practice, depending on the role they’re providing.
Dr. Sandi: Yeah. I think that’s the key phrase, scope of practice, because it would be a real risk for everybody if it was, let’s say, the health coach who was recommending labs and certainly interpreting labs and recommending supplements there. What health coaches do is they are the ones who are the behavior change specialists there. And also, they’re the bridge of communication with everybody on your medical team. If I’m understanding this correctly, you are providing these clinical resources. And I think the key would be that it is that client who decides to go ahead and work with this clinical team because it’s not the health coach who is advising here.
Andrea: Yes, exactly. The health coach is providing lifestyle support, is providing access to these services. But at the end of the day, the client is choosing what they’re interested in, and a clinician is prescribing. And really, that’s the whole point. Especially now with peptides, what we’re seeing is many health coaches, their clients come to them asking, I’ve heard about peptides, should I try some? Where do I get them? And health coaches have two choices. Either they say, sorry, I can’t offer those, or some of them are going through the research, use only type of peptides with no clinician supervision and taking a lot of risk on the business they’ve built and the trust they’ve built. So, we wanted there to be a third way where a health coach can provide access to this, but it’s sourced from U.S.-based pharmacies that are licensed and supervised by a clinical team. And so, the health coach stays in their scope of practice. The clinician supports the medically supervised protocols, and the client gets what they need.
Dr. Sandi: So, let’s say I go to my health coach. I get this panel of tests. And then how does that work in terms of the interpretation? Do they have a consult with the clinician? Do they have in the case of function health where you get an email of your results and it’s all PDF and it’s AI interpreted? So, tell me about what you do.
Andrea: Yeah. So, it’s totally up to you as the client. You always get your lab results back, and you get an interpretation document kind of like you were saying, kind of like function health that walks you through what do these biomarkers mean, where are they at, are they in range or out of range? So, that’s the default. If you are looking for someone who can provide one-on-one interpretation, you can also request a consultation with a clinician, and talk to them about the results and what they may need.
Dr. Sandi: That’s awesome. So that you can have potentially a personal conversation with the clinician.
Andrea: Yeah, exactly.
Dr. Sandi: And you touched on this in terms of some coaches out there going rogue and they are getting into peptides, they’re using the ones research approved only. And this seems to me like a giant step into practicing medicine without a license. So, what would you say to a coach who thinks, oh, it’s fine and it’s okay for me to do this? Because there are many coaches out there who take that position.
Andrea: Yeah. I mean, there are some who are buying these unregulated peptides abroad or online that are labeled as research use and reselling them. I personally wouldn’t take that risk as a business owner, and I wouldn’t put my clients under the risk of taking something that does not come from a licensed source. And so, to each their own.
But I definitely think, when you are working with people on their health, at the end of the day, it’s a trust-based business. And I think that not only risks your business from a legal standpoint, but it just breaks that trust, which I think is the most important part. And so, I think, as I think of how health coaches build their reputation and their business, it’s all about who are you collaborating with, where are you sourcing your information? Where are you sourcing the products that you may offer? And that matters a lot to the clients and to the experience they have.
Dr. Sandi: Yeah. It is really critical because there are so many choices out there. And then with direct-to-consumer labs, it can get very confusing. And one of the central roles of the coach is to provide that clarification to look at these different companies that are sprouting up in terms of the different labs, lab offerings, supplement offerings, and how people…to really vet these services, these products.
Andrea: Yes, exactly. And I get it. There’s a lot of demand. I think that’s the part that’s tricky. Clients are coming to health coaches and saying, I’m interested in this. And so, I get it. There’s demand. You want to grow your business. It’s just about doing it the right way with clinician supervision and source from licensed pharmacies.
Dr. Sandi: Absolutely. I mentioned A4M. I’ve been going to their conference for many years. And it’s always fascinating to see what is trending. And the exhibit hall, which had, like, 900 exhibitors, but there’s themes, there seem to be. So, five, six years ago or pre-COVID, CBD. I go from exhibit to exhibit, and everyone had some kind of cool CBD type product. Then fast forward and then it was red light. And you’d go for exhibit after exhibit and everybody was touting their particular red light therapy bed. And then it’s gone on to PEMF or something else. And there was always something, hyperbaric oxygen.
So, when you think of a new experience in this field, how do you really help people who are seeing these ads or seeing this as all possible? Everything with stem cells a while ago. And what about people who really are still thinking of this…there’s a treatment and then it’ll be applied to a condition. But is that really the way to go or just getting back to the basics?
Andrea: Yeah. I think it’s a great question. And this is actually exactly why we built our business the way it is. There are many businesses out there that are just, here’s a peptide, here’s a GLP, goodbye. We don’t believe in that. We don’t want to be a pill mill. This is exactly why we partner with health coaches, with nutritionists, with trainers, wellness practitioners who are providing support on the foundation. At the end of the day, nutrition, exercise, sleep, that’s the foundation. Any sort of medication, especially when we talk about hormonal health or longevity health optimization, that’s sprinkles on top of it.
Dr. Sandi: Yeah. For sure.
Andrea: And so, I feel like the best way to provide access to these products that people want to experiment with and try and help them get to where they want to be faster is through someone who’s going to say, okay, I see you’re on a GLP-1. Now, let’s talk about your protein intake. Let’s talk about your strength training exercise, just making sure that the behavior changes around it and that the foundation is set as opposed to just trying different things and injecting yourself with different things, and not setting the foundation.
Dr. Sandi: It’s really critical. And those are the things that are accessible to everybody. Getting good sleep, getting outside, being properly hydrated, and eating good, clean food, which, of course, can be challenging for many people, depending on where you live. But these are the basics, and many people skip over those because it can’t be that simple. And yet, time and time again, when you go back to those basics, real, profound changes can be made.
Andrea: Exactly. Yeah. And listen, there are ways where sometimes the lifestyle is not enough. Sometimes you need a medication, but it’s not about one or the other. It’s about really starting with a foundation. And then if that is not sufficient, adding on the medication or the supplement that might help you get there.
Dr. Sandi: Yeah. Exactly. So, what type of feedback have you gotten? And you are an entrepreneur. And as a fellow entrepreneur, what are some of the lessons that you’ve learned in running a company? And where do you see this going? What’s your dream for the future?
Andrea: The most exciting thing to me is that we are supporting entrepreneurs who are supporting the health of others. That has always just been really exciting to me when we work with someone. I remember this health coach. And when she joined, she had no clients. She was like, listen, I just started, I was an RN. Now, I want to be a health coach, and I’m just starting from scratch. And it was really exciting. She’s actually really successful now because she hustled. She was getting clients, she was building trust. She really is hands-on with her clients. And this has allowed her to add an additional revenue stream by providing access to these clinical services, and allow her to get more clients and differentiate herself.
But it’s really rewarding to me to see those people who are able to succeed and grow their business, and then seeing the results from their clients. I had a call the other day with a wellness center we work with, and they’re opening a second location. And she was talking about her clients. She was like, this person dropped 40 pounds. This person looks so good. All her friends are happy for her, how she looks so good. So, now, all of her friends are coming to the wellness center.
So, it’s really exciting to see the transformation for the end consumer, but also for these entrepreneurs in terms of their business. So, that’s really rewarding to me. The vision is that every wellness business owner is able to expand their business, and provide access to clinical services and to everything their clients need in one place. Because it’s a much better experience for the clients to have it through someone they trust, the person they already go to as opposed to having to go here and here, and all these parties don’t talk to each other. So, that’s the vision that every single wellness business will be able to offer this. And we go from wellness being seen as woo-woo or take this little tea or as…wellness becomes this comprehensive blend of, yes, lifestyle and also medicine that really takes you to the next level.
Dr. Sandi: Yeah, absolutely. This has been just such a delight to talk with you, Andrea. And where can people find you?
Andrea: Yeah, absolutely. They can find us online at altrohealth.com. For FMCA, we’re happy to provide 25% discount for anyone that has completed your program. I know it’s phenomenal. You guys provide a lot of education. So, we’re happy to partner with people from your program. But you can find us online. We post a lot of content on this topic as well. And really great for you having me here.
Dr. Sandi: Oh, thank you. Well, it’s been a pleasure to get to know you and to learn about what you are doing in the wellness space. So, thank you so much.
Andrea: Thank you so much, Sandi.
