Health coaching is a growing industry and a rewarding career path in so many ways. According to Precedence Research, the global health coach market size is projected to be worth around US $27.8 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.7%. So if you are considering breaking into the industry, now is an excellent time to become a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC)!
To better serve our community in North America and globally, the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy strives to achieve recognition from the world’s preeminent health coaching organizations. We are proud of our status as an approved educator with Canada’s Health Coach Alliance (HCA), which unites thousands of Registered Health Coaches™ (RHC™), Registered Health & Nutrition Counsellors™ (RHNC™), and Registered Holistic Nutrition Practitioners™ across North America and internationally. Meet our alumni who are actively working as health coaches in Canada:
Jessica Tucker, FMCHC, Holistic Nutritionist
Canada | September 2018 Class
Jessica Tucker is a health expert who uses a unique approach to help confused, overwhelmed people with chronic digestive problems live their best lives. She has experienced digestive issues her entire life (IBS, Crohn’s) and has been able to address them completely naturally to feel the best she has ever felt. Jessica supports and guides people to get their lives back using solutions that she has developed that are personalized and compassionate.
Ben Johnson, FMCHC
Canada | March 2020 Class
Ben Johnson is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer. As a passionate advocate of the transformative power of health and wellness literacy, Ben has invested relentlessly in his own education. With more than 20 professional certifications, Ben is an eager student and an accomplished communicator.
From speaking events to seminars to traditional one-on-one coaching and training, Ben brings a broad perspective to the health and fitness field. Catalyzed by the sudden loss of his father to cancer, Ben has more recently focused his studies on gut health and autoimmunity. Ben believes people make good choices when they’ve got access to good information. He is determined to be an advocate of functional health principles and an agent of change to a health and medical system that can and should serve us all better.
Jessica Pozo, RN, RHC, FMCHC
Canada | March 2020 Class
Jessica Pozo is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, Registered Health Coach, and Registered Nurse specializing in nurse and healthcare worker burnout, based out of Toronto, Ontario. Since she can remember, she has always had a passion for helping others in any way she can.
Naturally drawn to the prevention side of healthcare, Jessica worked for many years in oral surgery, sedation dentistry and finally in IV nutrient therapy where she was exposed to naturopathic medicine. After years of testing the limits of her body, she started to struggle with energy issues. Through naturopathic medicine and lifestyle modifications, she was able to improve her energy tremendously. Shortly after, she stumbled upon health coaching and immediately knew this would be her next step.
Jessica is currently working in collaboration with Dr. Kate McLaird, ND, while simultaneously growing her own community. When Jessica is not working, you can find her in deep conversation with friends, walking with her mom, trying new foods with her partner, and playing with her 7-month-old son.
The FMCHC community in Canada is growing! There’s even a dedicated Canadian Facebook group moderated by our alumni. You can find them at “FMCA Canadian Coaches.” Together, we can make a big difference in the lives of people around the world through the effective combination of health coaching and Functional Medicine.
